This is arguably the coolest city in Thailand. We fell in love with Chiang Mai from our first visit and there is so much whether you like exploring waterfalls, hiking through national parks, visiting temples, eating in delicious restaurants, drinking some great espresso, or shopping in local artisan boutiques. Chiang Mai seriously has something for everyone! While visiting the city, don’t miss two of our favorite spots. The first is Nimman road, an epic neighborhood of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques, and our second is Baan Kang Wat artisan village, an artistic village filled with boutique shops.
1. Nimman Road: restaurants, coffee shops and boutique shopping
Seriously, this place rivals the West Hollywood and Copenhagen for the sheer number of great restaurants and bars. We love Rise rooftop bar and Beastburger.
2. Old City: markets, temples and history
3. Baan Kang Wat artist village
Baan Kang Wat Artist village is growing in popularity, but still not as popular as other parts of the city. That is sure to change because this place is tremendous. If you love handcrafted products and art, then you need to check this place out.
4. Visit the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary
Don’t miss spending time with these gentle giants. They are truly phenomenal creatures and hanging with them is a once in a lifetime experience. For more information on the pace, check out this post.
5. Visit the Tiger Kingdom
Tigers are beautiful and majestic. Getting to see them up close and in person is a remarkable experience. For more information, check out this post.
6. Visit a waterfall : Bua Tong sticky waterfall
This waterfall is deep in the jungle and totally wild. You can climb up the whole thing with a rope the’ve tied in the waterfall! For more information, check out this post.
