Nestled deep in the rice fields of a local farmer, you can find Firefly Eco Lodge, where you can climb up a bamboo ladder into your wicker pod and fall asleep to the sound of crickets and frogs in the rice fields. Ditch the traditional Ubud Bali hotels for an organic experience in the rice fields. If you’re lucky, you might even see Fireflies.

The Firefly Eco Lodge
Just outside of the center of Ubud, you can find the Firefly Eco Lodge, which is another awesome glamping opportunity in Bali. The lodge is tucked away in a local rice farmers fields, making you feel miles away from the city. It’s is on Airbnb listed for about $30/night, depending on the room.
We stayed in the Bamboo birds next number 4. The facility is eco-friendly, very artsy and cool, and offers a very unique experience As a result, it was one of our favorite places in Bali. Climbing up in your pod to fall asleep to the sound of crickets and frogs in the fields was so relaxing and beautiful! The lodge has a really nice pool/swing and restaurant/bar facility hangout area that is very comfy and beautifully decorated. The food was great, and we loved the pasta dishes, fries, and sandwiches. It’s a really nice fun experience to break you away from just staying Ubud Bali hotels.

Finding the Firefly Eco Lodge
The Firefly Ecolodge is located just off the main strip in Ubud, however, that doesn’t make it easy to find. If you plug in the address, it should take you to unassuming dirt turn off. Don’t be afraid, you have headed the right way. You can look for the small sign on the roadside that says firefly ecolodge.
Once you are here, you need to call the lodge. Then they will send a motorbike down to pick up your bags, or you can just hike up with them yourself. It’s about a 20 minutes walk and not strenuous. It’s actually beautiful walking through the rice fields. There is barely any wifi or service for calling. But don’t be alarmed if you show up at the side of the road, look for the sign, and then head up the concrete path into the rice fields. It’s a straight walk after that. And you will be away from all of the tourism surrounding the Ubud Bali Hotels.

Two bathrooms, with western toilets, are located on-site in brick huts. They also have a cool bamboo shower room. Outside the

Below are the bamboo ladders that you climb to stay in your pod. They were very sturdy and safe. We stayed on the top, 4th, pod and it was such a cool experience! There isn’t a door, but they have mosquito nets that completely surround each bed. I always get destroyed by bugs and didn’t get a single bite staying here, which is pretty impressive.
