Norway is one of the most gorgeous countries a part of Scandinavia in Europe. The Fjords of Norway are amazing scenery that include deep blue fjords, cascading waterfalls, and snow-capped mountains that tower high above the water filled ravines. Seals and eagles live in the fjords, as well as whales and fish in the the deep fjords. Fjord hiking in Norway is some of the most beautiful hikes you will do in your life. There are boat cruises, day hikes and beautiful camping. UNESCO has included the west Norwegian fjord landscape, exemplified by the Geirangerfjord and the Nærøyfjord, on its World Heritage List. The fjords were created during the ice age. Along the sides and at the inner ends of each fjord you’ll find small communities and villages that are a part of the experience. The fjords in Norway are one of my favorite places in the world and we fell in love with hiking in this stunning country. This needs to be on your Europe bucket list!
Trolltunga is a rock formation about 1,100 metres above sea level in Odda in Hordaland county, Norway. The magnificent cliff is jutting horizontally out from the mountain, into free air about 700 metres above the north side of the lake Ringedalsvatnet. This is one of the most grand gorgeous fjords in Norway and is one of the most famous hike views in fjordland. This is one of the most gorgeous fjords in Norway and most epic hikes. This is my favorite hike I have ever done and it was challenging even being a pretty avid hiker. I rate this in my opinion as one of the best fjords to visit and hike in Norway since it is a doable day trip.

The Geirangerfjord is an iconic fjord with snowy mountain peaks, lush plant life, flowing falls & amazing views. This is one of the top visited fjords in Norway and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, along with the Nærøyfjord, since 2005. There are many beautiful farms along this fjord with flowers and barns in many of the famous pictures you see including Skageflå, Knivsflå and Blomberg. There are three main waterfalls on the fjord, and there are two most visited waterfalls, ‘de Syv Søstre’ (the seven sisters) and ‘Friaren’ (the suitor, also referred to as the wooer). The two waterfalls face one another across the fjord, and the suitor is said to be trying to woo the sisters opposite hence their names. Brudesløret (the bridal veil) is the third waterfall on the fjord, named because it falls delicately over one rocky edge, and when seen backlit by the sun looks like a thin veil over the rocks.

The Hjørundfjord is a 22 mile long fjord arm of the larger Storfjorden that stretches south from Ålesund. The Hjørundfjorden is surrounded by the Sunnmørsalpene mountain range with peaks reaching 1,700 metres (5,600 ft). Both sides of the fjord are covered with forrest, due to the rainfall. This just adds to the experience of being in a magical forested fjord landscape. There are many small villages along the fjord, including Bjørke, Leira, Viddal, and Urke. Saebo is another small town along the fjord with ferry access into the fjord and into the Sunnmorsalpene for hiking.
